Creating a Black and White portrait from color can enhance the power and beauty of the portrait. It often works well when the subject or subjects are wearing black or a dark color. In this portrait, Piper the Labradoodle shows up nicely with her light-colored fur.

I do have a special method of getting just the right tones and contrast once I change the image from color to black and white in post-production. Thru past experience, I have discovered that by adding just the right amount of red and yellow to the image will give me the look that I want to achieve.
